Slot Machine Location

Volumes have been said on this item, and the debates and face-offs about where the "hot" slot games are located in the casino are still ongoing – over 60 yrs after the slots were first added to the gaming floor in gambling houses.

The traditional rule is that the better slot machines were positioned just inside the door of the casino; so that people passing by would see actual jackpot winners … be mesmerized enough to come unto the gaming floor and play. Our resolve is that this is definitely no longer so.

Practically all of the major casinos today are giant complexes and it is not possible to see inside from the sidewalk, so there is no longer a reason to put the ‘loose’ slot games in close proximity to any of the doors.

Yet another classic rule is that loose slots are installed on the major aisles inside the casinos, again so that more fun seekers could see winning jackpots and be roused to play. Importantly however, we find that this also isn’t a universal rule any more.

What casinos found over the years is that people walking down the busy aisles were frequently on the way to somewhere else. If they played one armed bandits at all, they would simply put in their loose change because they happened to be walking by. Win or lose, they would very often not stop to keep playing. And the very last thing a casino wants is for someone to win a jackpot by playing only a few coins and then not stay to put it all back in!

Nowadays, casinos are constantly changing their perspective about where to place the loose slot machine games.
